Core pinning
PROBLEM
To prevent machine process stops to change rewinding rolls, a rewind core is wrapped in adhesive tape prior to being held ready to feed into the process at the correct time. This process uses adhesive tape, human resources and wastes materials which are in contact with the adhesive tape.
SOLUTION
Static generating equipment is installed within the product process can be activated at the time of the core change. As the new core contacts the material the static charge tries to bond to the core. When the web is cut, the tail end of the web passes to the old rewinding roll, while the lead end of the web wraps around the new core.
The controlled level of static charge to the material causes no physical damage but causing the web to bond to the core and self-wrap without the need for adhesive tape.
