PROBLEM

Static charges on substrates during processing can result in:

  • Separation of sheets on infeed stack
  • Static charges are created by the friction between the squeegee and the silk screen. The static charges can be seen in the print and sheet handling during printing as:-
  • Pin holes in block colour
  • Print edges being undefined
  • Ink bridging between the substrate and the screen leaving ink tags
  • Substrate being reattracted to the screen on separation contaminating the screen with wet ink
  • Stacking issues on sheet delivery

SOLUTION

Sheet separators neutralise the static charges between the sheets on the infeed stack.

Mounting a Hyperion bars between driers and screen print stations overcomes print defects and sheet handling issues.

Controlling static charges as the sheets slide across the delivery stack, overcomes stacking issues.
