A tacky roller cleaning system is one of the earliest forms of web cleaning originating in the mid-20th century. They use twin elastomer rollers to lift contaminants from the surface, which is then transferred to the adhesive rolls. Preventing recontamination and ensuring high product quality.
The technology has grown significantly, with systems like the Meech TakClean incorporating static control to neutralise static charges. Today tacky roller systems are widely adopted in industries such as packaging printing and converting where maintaining a clean web is crucial.
The TakClean can be supplied as single- or double-sided cleaning configuration to suit your requirements.
There is no simple answer as this varies from web to web. Essentially, the more contamination that is present on the web surface, the sooner you will need to tear a section off. Many users from the printing market tear off a sheet at the start of a shift, other users from the same market tear off a sheet at the start of each print run.
Yes. The TakClean includes 2 x Model A914 ionising bars that are installed on the exit of the machine, one either side of the web. The ionising bars are fitted with 2mtrs of cable and are powered by a single Meech Model A906 power supply.
Meech recommends that the maximum web width suitable is 15mm less than the effective width, i.e. Meech recommends that a TakClean with an effective width of 350mm is suitable for a maximum web width of 335mm.
TakClean will remove particles as small as 0.5 micron.
Yes. A compressed air supply is required to engage/disengage the adhesive rollers from the TransTak rollers. The compressed air supply should be moisture and oil free and should be a minimum of 3bar, preferably 5bar.
No. There is a slight level of drag, as there is with all contact systems, when the web accelerates or decelerates. There is no ongoing appreciable drag.
Yes. Combinations of Meech web cleaners can be used to ensure you achieve the optimum level of contamination removal. For example, in a paper application with high levels of contamination it is common to use a Meech VacClean system to remove the bulk of the contamination, followed by TakClean to achieve cleaning to as low as 0.5 micron.
The TakClean is optimised to effectively clean at machines speeds of 250m/min, or 820ft/min.
For applications which exceed this parameter please reach out to your local Meech distributor or contact Meech directly for more assistance.
