Fundamentally an Air Curtain requires high pressure air to perform correctly. The air exiting a Vortex Tube is of low pressure, so will not be strong enough to power the Air Curtain.
Secondly, even if you could get it working you would see a very minimum drop in air temperature. The Air Curtain entrains air at ratios of 25:1, so for every 1 unit of compressed air from the Vortex Tube you will be entraining 25 units of ambient air, which will affect the overall temperature of the air exiting the Air Curtain.
Yes, as a bespoke manufacturer we can tailor the air curtain to specific lengths between 50 and 2500mm to suit your requirements. Please note non-standard Air Curtains will require a longer lead time. For more information, please contact your local Meech distributor or Meech directly for more assistance.
11 Bar (160 PSI)
Similar to the rest of the MAT range the Air Curtain has no moving parts and thus requires very little maintenance. Please ensure that the compressed air is clean and filtered to reduce the risk off maintenance even more.
Meech Air Curtains are perfect for application that require a uniform curtain of air over a wide area. There are a wide range of applications the Meech Air Curtain can be used for these include:
- Product drying
- Creating an air barrier
- Product cleaning/swarf removal
- Product cooling
Please refer to the applications section on the Meech website to see more application examples. If you are still not sure, please contact Meech to discuss your application.
Meech Air Curtains not only offer an air amplification ratio of 25:1, but they also provide a noise reduction of up to 30dBA less than a commonly used drilled pipe.
A 300mm Air Curtain operates at a level of 83dBA which deems them a safe level of noise exposure to use with no PPE.
Meech Air Curtains are designed to give a uniform laminar sheet of air across the whole length of Air Curtain. Occasionally with an Air Curtain you may experience “dead spots” at places along the length of the curtain. You can usually feel this by running you finger along the air outlet whilst in operation.
There are several reasons for this:
- This cap of the Air Curtain may be overly tight. Which affects air flows. To solve this, check all the bolts in the top of the Air Curtain, they should be between 3-4NM of torque.
- It could be that there is contamination has got into the air supply. Typically, this will be dust or water. To fix this remove the air curtain and clean in soapy water. If needed fit a water or oil filer to the compressed air supply.
- The Air Curtain may be faulty, if this is this the case, please contact the vendor you purchased it from.
A Meech Air Curtain is supplied in lengths ranging from 50mm to 2500mm. For other configurations please contact your local Meech distributor or Meech directly.
The Meech Air Curtain can be supplied as small as 50mm, to suit your application. For applications where you require a smaller stream of air, it could be worth using a Meech Energy Saving Nozzle.
Yes, Meech offer the Hyperion 959IPS Ionising Air Curtain, which uses our latest short range pulsed DC 924IPS ionising bar paired with the Meech Air Curtain to provide a laminar sheet of ionised air. It is an extremely versatile product that offers effective static neutralisation and dust removal for a wide range of applications. Please see the Hyperion 959IPS Ionising Air Curtain product page to find out more.
The Meech Air Curtain entrains ambient air at a ratio of 25:1 delivering a massive airflow to the target, for a wide range of applications.
NEEDS UPDATING
Problems with compressed air flow can be caused by:
- Air pressure too low – increase air pressure at the relevant regulator.
- Undersized compressed air lines – replace pipes with correct sizes, ensuring they have a direct feed from the ring main.
- Blocked compressed air line – remove blockage
- Insufficient compressor size – check compressor size for fitting air curtain.
