Gravure printing
PROBLEM
- Static charges generated on the substrate as it is printed and dried need to be controlled to prevent fires.
- The use of passive ionisers increases the risk of sparking from the charged web exiting the print station to the passive ioniser which is located within the solvent rich environment of the print station.
SOLUTION
- The controller mounted outside of the EX-zone powers the two ionising bars mounted before and after the pressure and impression rollers.
- The controller connected to SmartControl can be linked to a feedback sensor mounted outside of the EX-zone. The feedback sensor measures any residual charges on the material. When linked to the controller can automatically adjust the ionising balance to compensate for any charges measured.
- SmartControl data logs all performance data for quality control purposes. If performance tolerances exceed or come close to safe working levels, an alarm warn operators or be used to shut down the printing press if required.
